Both the cork and the cactus leather are very robust, water-repellent, durable, breathable and sustainable. The cork comes from cork oaks in Portugal. The cork oaks prefer dry soils. The good thing about cork extraction is that the tree does not have to be felled. Only the bark that grows back can be separated.

The cactus leather is made from the nopal cacti or prickly pear cacti. Both of these cactus species grow in abundance all over the world, particularly in Mexico and Australia. Both the leaves and the cactus fruits are part of the Mexican diet. This means that cactus leather, which was invented just a few years ago, is a byproduct of the food industry. This means a lot can be recycled. Furthermore, the cacti need almost no water. A true super plant.

Cork shoes

Our cork shoes are, as the name suggests, made from cork. The bark of the cork oak is one of the most sustainable raw materials on our planet. We have our cork sneakers made in Portugal, the land of cork. Around half of the world's cork grows in Portugal.

Our cork sneakers are not only very natural, sustainable, vegan and beautiful, they also shine with their durability and are water-repellent, which also makes our cork shoes ideal shoes for the rainy transitional period. The cactus leather in our vegan sneakers originally comes from Mexico, where it was invented, developed and is now 90% produced there. The leaves of the fig and/or nopal cactus are used to make our cactus leather shoes. These are dried in the open air and important and ingenious, the cactus does not die, but recovers over time and new leaves grow, super sustainable.

Sustainable sneakers made from cactus, what can you imagine? The mass of dried leaves is enriched with PU to make it stable and flexible. This mass is then applied to a canvas (e.g. organic cotton). High-quality, comfortable and robust cactus leather shoes can be made from cactus leather, sustainable and vegan.
